Fashion Show Pictures
January 29, 2009
The Revolt Against Recession Fashion Show was great! Please keep checking Heaven Gallery for similar future events! The space was great and everyone was so nice! It was great to meet a bunch of new people. Here are some pictures:
Check out Anna Hovet’s new designs, including reversible and convertible coats! Can’t wait to order one myself!
Ch…
January 29, 2009
Yesterday, I realized all of my favorite things in the world- well, at least most of them- start with a “ch.”
Now, only if I can find a type of bread that starts with a Ch I think I could be set for life…
To update- People wrote in about Challah bread! Can’t believe I forgot about that. But I have a few more additions:
Spontaneous Choreographed Dance
I know this isn’t really news-worthy, but it made me wonder if everyone’s favorite things started with the same letter…
Noble Beast
January 27, 2009
Andrew Bird’s new album, Noble Beast, has arrived! Not only is he, himself, extremely attractive (I doubt my husband is actually reading this, and if he is, sorry), but his music is even more beautiful. It’s one of those artists that you can listen to on repeat all day long. You can listen to some of the tracks on his myspace page. I can’t even do justice to the music in writing.
Believe it or not- he’s even better in concert. It’s seriously a life changing event. Check out his show schedule and hurry up and get tickets before they sell out!
Sculptural Wire Jewelry
January 26, 2009
StyleMax was great, but the best part was meeting and getting inspired by the other local Chicago artists in our area. One of my favorite was Kathy Frey- a jewelry designer.
She has an upcoming open studio on February 7th. Want one, or all of her creations? You can buy online or at any shop that carries her line.

StyleMax
January 13, 2009
Hi!
Besides the new site, I’ve been gearing up for the largest Midwest trade show, StyleMax, which is in a couple days. My new spring/summer 2009 collection is almost ready- check back for pictures this weekend! So please stop by the “What’s Next In Chicago” section and take a look, if you are going to the trade show! I have to say, we’re in a pretty prime location- right next to Hobo International handbags and also not far from Tano handbags, too! Here’s a little sneak peak of some fabrics:
Not your average chocolate bar
January 12, 2009
Chocolate, probably the one thing most of us can’t live without, is now on a new adventure for daring taste buds. Enter Vosges, a Chicago Chocolatier that is taking chocolate bars to a whole new level.
Love bacon? Try it with chocolate. Probably one of the greatest experiences of your life.
Stop by one of their stores for one of the greatest days in your life. And no, I am not exaggerating. Everything about Vosges, from the lettering on the windows, to the deep purple interior, to the free samples inside the store, is perfect.
The only problem now is that you can’t go back to Hershey’s.
Equality Now
January 9, 2009
One of my New Year’s resolutions was to start giving back to the community around me. Being in the fashion industry, I love clothes and shoes probably more than your average person, but I also see the superficial side. I do feel that art in general has a great power to bring awareness about issues on a large scale and that’s why I am very excited to announce that all sales starting this year will have a portion of the proceeds going to Equality Now.
Equality Now is an international organization “founded in 1992 to work for the protection and promotion of the human rights of women around the world.” Through diverse campaigns, Equality Now is taking action on numerous human rights violations that happen to women just like us – in this country and every other. From their website, in India, a 10-year-old girl is rescued by a flight attendant who notices her crying. Her father has sold her to the 60-year-old Saudi Arabian man sitting next to her for the equivalent of US$240.
As women, it’s time for us to stand up and really demand equality. No one else is going to do it for us- it starts with each of us.
Visit their site to join their campaigns and to take action.
Custom Wedding Dresses
January 7, 2009
With the engagment season nearing to a close, I’m sure lots of brides-to-be are having a really hard time finding the perfect dress. You go shopping, but you aren’t finding anything you feel absolutely gorgeous in. Stop by Dame Couture– they have two locations on the north side of Chicago for you to come in and create your perfect dress. Don’t forget about your mom either! My mother customized her dress from Dame Couture and she was definitely the best dressed at the wedding for sure! Check out some of their past work:
The only picture I have of my mom’s amazing dress is a snapshot from a friend:
